As seen below, JBL took a shot at Mauro Ranallo on Twitter for missing this week’s Smackdown Live. Before the show, Ranallo indicated on Twitter that he might not be able to make it to the show because of the blizzard in the northeast. On the live broadcast, Tom Phillips explained that the weather prevented him from making it to the show.
However, the latest Wrestling Observer newsletter seemed to indicate that the excuse given on the air may have not been the real reason for Ranallo’s absence. Dave Meltzer wrote, “What they said on the air was that the weather prevented Ranallo from coming and he’d be back next week and that Otunga was out filming a movie. At least half of that was true, since Otunga was out filming a movie.”
JBL’s tweet (scroll down) regarding Ranallo bashing him seemed to be in response to Ranallo retweeting fan responses to JBL’s comments from Monday night’s Bring It To The Table show that aired on Monday night. He may have also been referring to Ranallo’s tweet that read: “JEALOUSY IS ONE HELLUVA DRUG! ?” On Bring It To The Table, JBL criticized Ranallo for retweeting comments from fans praising his work and took issue with Ranallo referencing an “online poll” that voted him as the Best Television Announcer of 2016. That poll was actually from the Wrestling Observer newsletter but JBL did not reference it by name.
It will be interesting to hear what the real story is behind Ranallo’s absence on Tuesday and I wonder if he will be there on this coming Tuesday’s show. You can check out the tweets from Ranallo and JBL below and we’ve included the Bring It To The Table clip from Monday night.

.@mauroranallo I made the show, everyone made the show, everyone. Maybe he shouldn't have bashed me if he wasn't going to show up.
