On the Something to Wrestle podcast, JBL weighed in on the major news that Seth Rollins has vacated the World Heavyweight Championship due to injury. A new champion will be crowned at Saturday Night’s Main Event when CM Punk faces Jey Uso.
When asked for his prediction, JBL noted the situation opens a door for a new star to step up. “I think on Punk, you know, with crisis comes ladders. And anytime there’s a crisis, you know, somebody steps in, voids are always filled,” he said.
JBL specifically pointed to CM Punk as the person to fill the void left by Rollins. “You have a void here left, a huge void left by Seth, you know, somebody’s going to fill that void. And I think CM Punk can fill that very easily, very well, not easily,” JBL said, correcting himself. “Nobody can fill a spot of Seth Rollins easily, but then he could fill it very well.”
While he noted he is a fan of both men, JBL made a definitive pick for who he believes will walk out with the championship. “I think it’s CM Punk,” he stated. “I think betting put money on it, CM Punk”.
