Jeff Hardy has shared his thoughts on John Cena’s retirement. In a new interview with MuscleManMalcolm, the TNA World Tag Team Champion reflected on Cena’s career and his final match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Hardy expressed his admiration for Cena’s dedication to WWE and how he chose to end his career.
“He committed and dedicated so much of his human existence to the WWE, and it’s so inspiring,” Hardy said. “I’ll never forget that view of the sleeper hold and the kind of smirk and then the tap. I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is amazing.’”
Hardy also praised Cena’s performance throughout his final year, noting that the 16-time World Champion was performing at a high level and taking risks in the ring.
“And that last year, he was having some killer matches, letting it all hang out like my dad used to say,” Hardy continued. “Hitting all these crazy moves, hitting the Code Red. I was just loving every moment of it.”
Cena officially retired from in-ring competition earlier this month after tapping out to Gunther in his farewell match. The loss marked the end of a career that spanned over two decades, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest of all time.
