Jeff Jarrett Thinks Fewer WWE Live Events Is A Big Opportunity For Independent Wrestling

Jeff Jarrett, a veteran of the wrestling industry and WWE Hall of Famer, recently talked about WWE’s decision to cut back on its schedule of non-televised live events, often known as house shows. On his “My World With Jeff Jarrett” podcast, he explained that while he understands WWE’s business reasons, he believes this change will help independent wrestling grow.

“I get it because of their business model, but for another promotion, there’s lots of money to be made in, I’ll say even the B and C in D markets,” Jarrett stated.

He noted WWE’s need to report to “the street and half to private equity” influences such decisions about profitability in smaller areas. However, Jarrett sees a silver lining for the wider wrestling world.

“WWE will always get the talent. AEW and WWE write the big checks, but the developmental, and they’ll get there,” he said, before adding the key takeaway: “But there’s a reason why independent wrestling is being embraced across the board because that is where the talent’s going to come from.” He feels these smaller promotions can now better serve markets WWE might not run as often, providing a crucial training ground for future stars.
