Jelly Roll Reveals He Suffered Minor Injury While Training For WWE SummerSlam Match

As he prepares for his in-ring debut at WWE SummerSlam this weekend, musical artist Jelly Roll has revealed that his training has not been without incident. In a new interview with ESPN, the Grammy-nominated singer shared that he broke his pinky finger during his first week of training.

Jelly Roll Pushes Back On ‘Wrestling Is Fake’ Idea

When asked about the most challenging part of his training, Jelly Roll spoke about the intense physical demands of the sport and pushed back against the common misconception that wrestling is “fake.”

“The physicality. Man, listen—that whole ‘wrestling is fake’ idea? That needs to go out the window,” he said. “There’s no fake way to land on a piece of plywood in front of 60,000 people. There’s no fake way to flip over a cable rope with 65,000 people watching, you know what I mean?”

‘Constant Impact, Constant Collision’

The singer then revealed that he learned about the physicality firsthand very early in his training process. “I broke my pinky finger by accident in the first week of training,” he stated. “It’s just constant impact, constant collision, man. It’s real, and it’s tough.”

Despite the minor injury, Jelly Roll is set to make one final appearance before his big match. He, along with his partner Randy Orton and their opponents Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul, are all scheduled to be a part of tonight’s go-home episode of Friday Night SmackDown from Newark, New Jersey, for a final confrontation before they collide at SummerSlam.
