Jelly Roll: “I Will Wrestle Again”

Country music star Jelly Roll has confirmed his intention to step back into a WWE ring following his in-ring debut at SummerSlam this past August. The longtime wrestling fan, who teamed with Randy Orton against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre at the event, shared his desire for at least one more match and potentially a more extended run during a recent interview.

Speaking on a new episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Jelly Roll made it clear that his SummerSlam appearance was not a one-off. “I will wrestle again, for sure,” he stated. “I want to run it back. I want to do one more”.

He compared his feeling after the match to what fellow musician Bad Bunny might have experienced after his debut, suggesting the first match leaves you wanting to prove you can do even better. “I know why Bad Bunny had to do Backlash now because I know he walked out of that ring that night [after his first match] knowing how much more he could give,” Jelly Roll explained.

Beyond just a single return match, the 40-year-old shared interest in a more substantial program within WWE. When asked by Van Vliet if he specifically wanted a singles match next, Jelly Roll outlined a bigger “dream scenario”. “I don’t really know what I want,” he began. “But one, a dream scenario is: I’d like to get involved for like a run. Like, I’d like to wrestle every Friday, you know what I mean? Like, I’d like to get involved for like a 6-9 month run”. Regardless of the format, the drive to compete again is strong. “But I definitely got to do one more though, man,” he reiterated.

Jelly Roll noted this desire to the feeling that he could improve upon his debut performance. “It’s like anything else in life. You did it once and you think you were prepared, but you wasn’t,” he reflected. “And you leave there, all I could think about is everything I know I could have done a little better”. His dedication to the SummerSlam match was praised by many people, particularly his commitment to training and weight loss, dropping below 300 pounds for the first time since middle school.

In his debut, Jelly Roll took the pinfall loss from Logan Paul. He revealed that he pitched this finish himself, believing celebrities shouldn’t win their first match unless under special circumstances and wanting to keep the door open for future programs with Paul and McIntyre.
