The idea of an in-ring return is not completely off the table for Jerry “The King” Lawler. Despite recovering from a stroke in September that left him colorblind, Lawler remains optimistic about his wrestling future. During a video piece for Action News 5, the 76-year-old was asked about the possibility of stepping back between the ropes.
“I have not put it out of my mind,” Lawler laughed. “We have one more match in there somewhere.”
Lawler’s most recent match took place in January 2023 at an independent show in North Carolina, shortly before he suffered a stroke later that year. Lawler’s recent health scare is the latest in a series of serious medical events for the WWE Hall of Famer.
In September 2012, Lawler suffered a massive heart attack on live television during an episode of Monday Night Raw in Montreal. He collapsed at the commentary desk and was reportedly “clinically dead” for nearly 30 minutes before being revived. Lawler suffered a stroke at his home in Memphis in March 2018, which left him unable to speak for three days before he made a full recovery.
In February 2023, he was rushed to the hospital after suffering another stroke at his home in Florida, which notably impacted the left side of his body. The most recent stroke in September 2025 occurred at his Florida home and reportedly impacted the right side of his body and his vision, though he retained the ability to walk and talk.
