Je’Von Evans has responded to Kevin Nash’s controversial comments about him, brushing off the remarks and saying that the attention only confirms he is doing something right. Speaking with Adrian Hernandez, Evans addressed Nash’s comments directly but kept his response measured and forward-looking.
“If you’re not doing something right, nobody’s going to talk about you,” Evans said. “Usually, I feel like if you’re doing something right, or if they’ve got their names in your mouth, you’re grinding, you know what I mean? Like, some people have to do that just so they can get views or whatever.”
Evans made clear that the controversy will not change how he operates. “Either way, at the end of the day, the Young OG is going to keep on doing his thing,” Evans said. “Young OG is going to keep on being Je’Von Evans, no matter who likes it or doesn’t like it. I’m going to keep on having fun. And literally, me being me got me to where I’m at today. So apparently I’m doing something right, because my bosses love me.”
Nash made the remarks during his Kliq This podcast in February while discussing Evans’ OG Cutter finisher. Nash said Evans was “a little bit too Mr. Bojangles” for his liking and that he wished Evans was “a little bit more urban,” comments that drew criticism online. Nash issued an apology before deleting the comments, which drew further attention to the situation.
Evans has been one of the more talked about young performers in WWE since his debut, developing a following on NXT and the main roster with his high-energy style and authentic personality.
