Je’Von Evans Details ‘Mentor’ Relationship with Shawn Michaels
NXT star Je’Von Evans recently opened up about his close working relationship with WWE Hall of Famer and NXT creative head Shawn Michaels. Speaking on The Masked Man Show, Evans explained how their dynamic has evolved beyond a simple boss-employee-relationship.
“I feel like our relationship is more like, at first it was just like, you know, boss and employee, whatever,” Evans said. “But now I feel like it’s more like a mentor, like I can go to Shawn about whatever, you know, I mean, outside of wrestling. I can talk to him about life situations, and he’ll look out for me.”
A key component of their relationship is Michaels’ direct and honest feedback. Evans noted that he appreciates the straightforward coaching, as it aligns with his own goals.
“Of course, you know, wrestling, he’s completely honest with me,” Evans stated. “If he thinks a match (was not good), he would tell me he, ‘That wasn’t good.’ This is the relationship we have.”
Evans continued, “I feel like some people can’t really take that honesty, but he knows that, bro, I’m here to work, bro. I’m trying to be the best wrestler to ever do in the wrestling industry. So I think he understands that. So I know that he’s trying to get me to that goal, and the only way for me to accomplish that is honesty. So that’s what he gives me.”
