Je’Von Evans Discusses Nerves And Excitement For Gunther Match At MSG

Je’Von Evans on Facing Gunther at Madison Square Garden

WWE NXT’s Je’Von Evans is set for the biggest match of his young career this coming Monday, as he faces Gunther in the “Last Time is Now” tournament at Madison Square Garden. At just 21 years old, Evans has captured the imagination of the WWE Universe and is now facing one of the most dominant forces on the WWE roster.

Speaking on The Masked Man Show, Evans revealed that he found out about his inclusion in the tournament and the iconic venue on the day of the announcement. “I found out that I was in the tournament, that day, literally, couple hours before the show,” Evans said. “And then I found out that it was in the Garden. So, oh, man, we got nerves.”

When asked by the hosts what made him more nervous—wrestling Gunther or wrestling at MSG—Evans was quick to answer: “Yeah, wrestling the MSG man.” He later added, “Now that I’m walking into MSG, an iconic arena, I just feel like that energy, especially for me, it’s gonna be insane. I’m excited. I can’t wait to hear the reaction I get. I can’t wait to just feel that energy.”

Despite the nerves, Evans is focused on the task ahead. He noted that he has studied his opponent for a long time. “I’ve literally watched Gunther for a very long time,” Evans explained. “I was watching Gunther on the Indies, because I wanted to learn how to work against bigger people. So, he was a great example of that, but I’m excited, bro. I know it’s gonna be a hard fight. Bro, like, we’re gonna be scrapping. I ain’t backing down either… you try me. I’m gonna chop you back.”

Evans acknowledged the perception of the matchup, comparing it to a famous underdog story. “I know there’s a lot of people that are looking at this fight kind of like David and Goliath,” Evans stated. “But we know how the David and Goliath story ended, and I am planning on redoing that story.”
