Jey Uso On WWE World Title Win: ‘Welcome To The YEET Era’

In the opening contest, Jey Uso challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title at WWE WrestleMania 41 – Night 1 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.

Uso had earned the title match after winning the Royal Rumble in February. Uso was victorious, winning his first-ever World Title. He spoke about the win at the post-event press conference.

“No, Uce. I just wanted to be a tag team wrestler with my twin brother. Once you start to progress and see different doors open, you want to take advantage of those opportunities,” Uso stated. “It’s been hard. Especially hard today because I feel like, our business, everyone is smart to it. We [are] the last of a dying breed, that’s what I think. It’s damn near live theatrics, one shot, one take, live TV. I take pride in all that. All my brothers and sisters. Everyone who put on today. Behind the scenes, we’re all a big family. I’m so grateful I get to do this little part.

“I go out there and wrestle, but the production crew, the people who drive the trucks, who load, catering, I love y’all. I love everybody. My hat’s off. Stay humble, ready to rumble,” Uso continued, “Welcome to the YEET Era. I don’t know what’s about to happen. I’m gonna embrace the hate. I’m gonna embrace the love. I dethroned the Ring General. I’m the World Heavyweight Champion. I got side plates on this thing. This is the quickest I ever got…I had to wait two weeks when I won the IC Championship. I got a new shirt on. It’s love. YEET.”
