Wrestling legend and podcaster Jim Cornette has publicly voiced his support for Mick Foley following the Hall of Famer’s announcement that he is parting ways with WWE.
Earlier today, Foley released a statement confirming he would no longer make appearances for WWE and would not renew his Legends contract when it expires in June. Foley cited WWE’s close relationship with United States President Donald Trump as the reason for his departure, specifically pointing to the President’s recent comments regarding the death of film director Rob Reiner.
Following the announcement, Cornette took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to commend Foley’s stance.
“I don’t think Mick Foley’s on Twitter or I’d tag him but I want to state publicly that while I’ve always liked him, he has just become my favorite person in the world,” Cornette wrote. “I wish all the boys had his backbone and, more importantly, his morals.”

Context of Cornette’s Stance
Cornette’s support for Foley aligns with his long-standing opposition to Donald Trump. Through his podcasts, The Jim Cornette Experience and Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, Cornette has frequently criticized the President and the current political climate. He has also been critical of wrestlers and wrestling personalities who publicly support Trump.
Foley’s Departure
In his original statement, Foley explained that while he had been concerned about WWE’s relationship with the President for months, Trump’s reaction to Rob Reiner’s passing served as the “final straw.” Foley stated he had notified WWE talent relations that he would not appear for the company as long as Trump remains in office.
WWE and the Trump Administration
The relationship between WWE and Donald Trump spans several decades, including WWE hosting WrestleMania IV and V at Trump Plaza. Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013. Additionally, Linda McMahon, the former CEO of WWE, served as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term and continues to be a key figure in his political orbit.
