On this week’s edition of The Ross Report podcast, Jim Ross addressed the rumor going around about former UFC lead announcer Mike Goldberg potentially signing with WWE. The story claimed that WWE wanted to sign Goldberg as Mauro Ranallo’s replacement and one of the reasons why WWE re-hired Jim Ross was due to his friendship with Goldberg and that Triple H believes that Ross could influence Goldberg to join the company.
The problem with that story is that Ross does not know Mike Goldberg and only spoke with him one time. Ross said, “the problem with that is, I don’t know Mike Goldberg. I met him one time at a UFC event in Oklahoma City a long time ago.” Ross added, “I like his work [and] I listened to his work for years but I have not had the opportunity to get to know him.”
Ross added, “I don’t even know if WWE is interested in Mike Goldberg. I have no idea.” WWE did reach out to Goldberg in 2005 to replace Jim Ross but those talks fell through. We reached out to someone that knows Mike Goldberg and they denied that there were any recent talks regarding WWE. Bellator MMA has had talks to get him.
