Jim Ross announced on his latest podcast that he is leaving WWE at the end of this month.
Ross has been under contract with the company for the last couple of years but, aside from commentary on the Mae Young Classic a couple of years ago and a UK special, the company has not done much with him. If you’ve been listening to his podcast in recent weeks, his departure is not a surprise as he’s talked about having one foot out the door.
Ross said his contract ends on March 29th and he met with Vince McMahon and they came to a mutual agreement to part ways. Ross noted that he has a lot to offer but there are people around McMahon who think otherwise.
Ross also added that his podcast will be overhauled with a new format with Conrad Thompson. Unless something happens at the “eleventh hour,” the new podcast will move forward as planned.
Ross seems like someone who would be a great benefit to All Elite Wrestling, either as a play-by-play man and/or behind the scenes.
