WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry over at his website where he gives his thoughts on various topics. During the blog, Ross commented on Kurt Angle being named the new RAW GM. He said that Angle being the new GM is smart booking and will be a big-time get for the RAW brand. “I think that it also sets in motion, if desired, for a retirement match with Kurt vs. some lucky talent would be a great attraction in NOLA for WM34.”
Ross also commented on calling The Undertaker’s retirement match at WrestleMania 33 against Roman Reigns. He noted that he was so moved that both Taker and Vince McMahon felt that it was the right opportunity for him to add his voice to Taker’s last match of his career. He said that he has never received a more memorable honor than being a part of this presentation and that includes any of the three Hall of Fames that he is honored to be a member of. He said that Taker is what all pro wrestlers should aspire to be as he possesses the most valued trait that any talent can have, which is reliability. He said that Taker was the unofficial captain of the WWE locker room back in his day and his leadership and professionalism was the major reason for WWE’s success in the Attitude Era.
“Has Taker indeed retired? It seems that way to me, and he has more surgery scheduled to repair his hip, but if had to make an uneducated guess I’d say the legend was done as an active wrestler and to think that I was honored to help broadcast his last one was, again, humbling.”
