Jim Ross comments on his current status with AXS TV

We’ve noted before that WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross’ current contract with AXS TV is set to expire come January. However, Ross won’t be able to re-sign with AXS until his current WWE contract is up in March. With that being said, Ross is confident that he will be calling matches for AXS TV again once his WWE contract expires. He addressed the situation on a recent edition of his podcast, “The Ross Report.”

Ross said that he hasn’t, as far as he’s concerned, called his last match for AXS TV. He then confirmed he simply isn’t able to re-sign with the company until the end of March:

“Let me say this right away, a little piece of business, ” Ross said. “I have not, as far as I’m concerned, broadcast my last match on AXS TV. I’m unable to get back on their air until passed the end of March, but I am optimistic that I will, somewhere along the way, rejoin the team in some capacity. So I’ll just throw that in there. That’s all.”

In the meantime, Ross looks to keep busy by calling sports he doesn’t do as regularly as he does for professional wrestling. He listed boxing, mixed martial arts, and football as possibilities for Spring of 2019:

“[More MMA broadcasting] is possible,” Ross said. “I’m probably going to be doing a lot things that I haven’t been doing come Spring. I’d like to do some more boxing. I’d like to do some football. I’d like to do some MMA. But I’m never going to deviate too far from my [pro] wrestling roots. That’d be stupid.”
