Jim Ross comments on his impending departure from WWE

Jim Ross took to Instagram to address some of the comments being made by some about his departure from WWE.

Ross wanted to make it clear that there was no animosity and it was an amicable departure. Ross also took the time to thank Vince McMahon.

Ross has been under WWE contract since 2017 when he was brought in to announce The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns match at WrestleMania 33. His hiring came shortly after his wife Jan died. Aside from that, WWE has not used him much. His last appearance for the company was on the pre-show for the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. Ross was there at the request of the Saudi prince.

Ross wrote:

“Sad to see how some are looking for “dirt” as to why I will no longer be with WWE. WWE and I are parting ways with no animosity.
As I said on my podcast on Westwood One, I can’t thank Vince McMahon enough for how he looked over Jan and me for the last 25+ years. I will be forever grateful.

I look forward to the next chapter of my life.

Working on our next book with Paul O’Brien. (You can still order SLOBBERKNOCKER on Amazon now). And join me at Gotham Comedy Club in NYC April 6th. Can’t wait to see all of you great fans there. Visit for more info.”

It’s no secret that All Elite Wrestling would love to have him. AEW is looking at launch a sports-centric product when they start their TV show so Ross would seem like a good fit for the play-by-play.
