Jim Ross has provided a sobering update on the health of his longtime broadcast partner and friend, Jerry “The King” Lawler. Despite Lawler recently hinting at a desire to have “one last match,” Ross expressed significant doubt that such a return is physically possible given Lawler’s current condition.
Health Concerns
During a recent appearance on Grilling JR, Ross discussed seeing Lawler at a convention in Pittsburgh. While Lawler remains optimistic about stepping back into the ring, Ross noted that the effects of Lawler’s recent stroke are still evident, particularly regarding his mobility.
“Well, you know, after being around him all weekend and loving him like I do, I hope not, I don’t see how he could do it,” Ross said. “He’s like me. He doesn’t get around real quickly, and his balance is suspect. He loves the business so much. It’s his life. Connie, it’s his f**king life, and he’s having a hard time separating from his long, 50-plus-year established life to not.”
Supporting His Friend
Although Ross is skeptical about the feasibility of a return match, he made it clear that he would support whatever decision Lawler makes, provided he is physically cleared.
“Hey, if he wants to have another match, and he can have another match, and if he had a match. I certainly support it, but I don’t see it happening,” Ross added.
Lawler suffered a stroke in 2023 and another health scare in late 2025, which affected his vision and right side. While his WWE broadcasting contract was not renewed earlier this year, he remains under a WWE Legends deal.
