WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry over at his website where he gives his thoughts on various topics. Former WWE star CM Punk will finally make his UFC debut at UFC 203 next Saturday night against Mickey Gall. Ross believes that Punk is well prepared despite his lack of MMA experience.
“Doing ample media for the CM Punk UFC debut at UFC 203 vs. Mickey Gall. Even though many feel that Punk has zero chance of winning his first ever pro fight in the Octagon, I maintain that Punk will be prepared, focused and ready to fight and the fact that four ounce gloves are great equalizers so that any thing can happen. One can assume that most die hard UFC fans are motivated to see Punk go down…early and decisively…but knowing Punk’s dogged mental attitude I can’t automatically count him out. Punk is being featured prominently in the promotion of the event, and his presence will help sell PPV’s, without question. The MMA people that have talked to me seem to quietly want to Punk to lose or so it seems to me.”
Alberto Del Rio is on his way out of WWE and Ross explained that Del Rio still has plenty to offer to other wrestling promotions.
“Wishing Alberto Del Rio the best of luck upon ADR leaving WWE for the second time by my count. Talented guy without question who has seemingly not found what he’s looking for in a promotion and at some point one has consider reevaluating one’s priorities and game plan. Perhaps I’m wrong but there seems to be an abnormal amount of controversy surrounding this talent who still has plenty to offer a pro wrestling company if the table is set correctly for all involved. I hope that the ADR story has a happy ending for all involved but for some reason that option doesn’t seem like a lay up. Remember that when talents leave a company is more often than not because of one of the two C’s, creative and cash.”
Wednesday’s episode of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic was an excellent show. Ross praised WWE for the way they have presented the show.
“WWE doing a great job of featuring the Cruiserweights on the WWE Network during the CWC. Good, old school logic is being utilized more often that not which emphasizes the fundamentals of performing a pro wrestling match. The wrestling business in general is often times over thought but seemingly not on WWE’s presentation of CWC.”
Ross also talked about Dean Ambrose and more. You can read the entire blog here. In you haven’t, you can listen to the latest episode of the Ross Report here:
