WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry over at his website where he gives his thoughts on various topics. During the blog, Ross commented on rumors of the WWE trying to get a big UFC star to appear at WrestleMania 33 next year in Orlando, Florida. Some of the names floating around are former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, mega star and current UFC featherweight champion Conor Mcgregor and finally top prospect Paige VanZant. Ross sees those three fighters being the obvious choices but believes the company will recruit all three to appear the event. Ross sees this being a ‘one off’ booking situation. Ross brought up talking to VanZant in July prior to UFC 200 in Las Vegas and stated that she is a big WWE fan and seems like she’d love the opportunity to team with WWE for a big event. Ross sees McGregor being a long shot to appear at the event but stated that “the Irishman certainly would bring the ‘Attitude Era’ with him.”
Switching gears, the issues surrounding TNA continues as they recently lose their UK TV deal. Ross is certainly pulling for the company to rebound and get back on their feet but under the current incarnation, he also understands that this will be an extremely challenging task. “To think that any leadership group can resurrect the beleaguered brand on POP TV is somewhat far fetched in my opinion,” Ross said. Ross explained that the company needs one decision maker in charge and so to speak, not so many cooks in the kitchen. Ross said that decision maker has to have infinite, product knowledge or TNA under any name simply will continue to fail and bleed money. Ross said that he is hearing that TNA is having a problem attempting to regain a TV deal there. “I have no dog in the hunt but for anyone to actually think that POP TV can cure what ails TNA is ridiculous,” Ross said.
Ross also talked about Goldberg and more. You can read the entire blog here. If you haven’t done so, you can listen to the latest episode of the Ross Report here:
