Tom Brady has spent the past several days at the center of wrestling’s rumor mill, and Jim Ross thinks the noise is pointing somewhere.
Brady said during a live edition of Cody Rhodes’ podcast at Fanatics Fest that he was waiting on WWE president Nick Khan to find a storyline for him, then took a swing at Logan Paul on stage days later, extending a feud the two have been running since early this year. TMZ Sports has since reported that there are ongoing conversations between Brady and WWE.
Asked about it on Grilling JR, Ross said he takes the chatter seriously.
“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, Conrad. I truly believe that,” Ross said. “If Brady is interested in getting involved, getting his toe in the water, I don’t see him being a full-time wrestler, obviously, but I can certainly see him being involved to some degree. We’ll wait and see.”
Ross said the value of landing him would be obvious.
“That’d be a great get, shall we say, for WWE, to get Brady involved, because he’s got such a massive name,” Ross said. “Like I said, where there’s smoke there’s usually some fire, especially in pro wrestling.”
Told that Brady alongside The Rock would give WWE’s parent company considerable star power at the boardroom level, Ross agreed without hesitation.
“That’s true. That’s a layup. That’s a gimme,” Ross said.
As for what a Brady role would actually look like, Ross said he has no idea, but he does not believe WWE would let the opportunity pass.
“Time will tell. Obviously, time will tell, Conrad. But I got to believe that you find a spot for Tom Brady. You find a place, and what that place will look like, I don’t know,” Ross said. “But if he’s interested in playing ball with your team, it’d be hard to tell him no, or I’ll get back to you. I don’t see that happening.”
Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, as is Ari Emanuel, the CEO and chair of TKO, WWE’s parent company. Nothing has been confirmed by Brady or WWE.
