Jim Ross was interviewed by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer radio shortly after it was announced that Ross would be the announcer for Global Force Wrestling’s co-promoted show with New Japan Pro Wrestling on January 4th.
Ross revealed that he spoke with Jeff Jarrett for the first time on Monday. It was the first time he spoke with Jeff since 1999. The negotiations for Ross for GFW’s New Japan Show were between Jarrett and Ross’ agent Barry Bloom. As of yesterday, Ross had not signed the contract but Ross has given his word and will be at ringside in Tokyo.
Ross also said that he wanted some say on who he would be working with and he wanted some say on where he would call the show from so that’s why he will be in Tokyo and not calling the show from a studio. Ross said that he and Jeff will talk before the decision is made on who will be the color commentator alongside Jim Ross.
Ross said that he would be open to more shows but it has to be manageable and it has to be fun. Right now he’s just concerned with the January 4th show. Ross said that he’s heard that they will have ample time on the cable systems to promote the January 4th show.
