Jim Ross: Sable’s ‘Not In The Hall Of Fame And That’s Wrong’

Jim Ross has added his voice to the growing calls for Sable to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, saying her absence from the honor roll is simply wrong and that the window to include her in the current class may be closing.

Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross was asked about the subject after Marc Mero appeared on Chris Van Vliet’s show and made the same argument. Ross agreed wholeheartedly while noting the decision ultimately rests with current management and Brock Lesnar. While Ross stated Vince McMahon, who is no longer in charge, he meant to say Triple H.

“I don’t really know the answer to that,” Ross said of whether the hold-up is a personal or corporate decision. “It’s a Vince decision at the end of the day and a Brock Lesnar decision at the end of the day. So we’ll see how that takes us. The time is running out for her to be put into the Hall of Fame, in my opinion, for this year.”

“She certainly deserved it, and she caused a stir,” Ross added “She made the company a lot of money, she became a star, a big star. For me, she’s not in the Hall of Fame and that’s wrong. She should be, and hopefully that’ll come to pass sooner than later.”

Sable, whose real name is Rena Greek, was one of the most visible figures in WWE during the Attitude Era. She held the WWE Women’s Championship, featured on multiple Playboy covers, and was a major contributor to the record ratings WWE achieved during the late 1990s. She filed a lawsuit against WWE in 1999, later returned to the company from 2003 to 2004, and has since lived a private life with husband Brock Lesnar.
