Jim Ross believes Kenny Omega will stay with NJPW instead of joining WWE, comments on WrestleMania 34

On the latest episode of the “Ross Report,” which features an interview with Drew Galloway, host and WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross discussed various topics. One of the biggest news stories to come out this week was that WrestleMania 34 would be held in New Orleans in 2018. Ross brought up that the last time that WrestleMania was held in the city saw Brock Lesnar beat The Undertaker to end Taker’s WrestleMania streak. He noted that Taker being in the Royal Rumble is good news. “We’re not even sure they will be in the ring at the same time. You have to imagine that Lesnar and Goldberg will cross-paths because you have to get them to Wrestlemania. So, do they self-destruct and clear Undertaker to win the Rumble?”

Ross also talked about Kenny Omega, who has been a hot topic since his match with Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 11. Ross believes that Omega is amused that so many fans have misrepresented or misinterpreting his quotes about Wrestle Kingdom 11. He noted that while Omega didn’t win the title from Okada in the main event that he had a career offering match for people to talk about years from now. Ross thought that was a helluva accomplishment. He noted that Omega would come back to NJPW and win the IWGP Heavyweight Title against Okada in the early summer. The reason he thinks this is because he believes Omega will be the champion when NJPW tours California in early July. He thinks that Omega is on WWE’s radar and noted that Omega’s contract is up on 1/31 with NJPW, so he will not be in the Royal Rumble match despite all of the teases that John Cena has sent out via his Instagram account. “I think Kenny Omega will stick with New Japan right now, but I also don’t know what type of “Full-Court Press” the WWE will do to make him not re-sign with New Japan at the end of January and give them the opportunity to get in the hunt.”

Ross also talked about Wrestle Kingdom 11 and more. You can listen to the podcast here.
