Jim Ross has said that politics played a significant role in keeping Sid Vicious out of the WWE Hall of Fame for so long, calling his eventual induction well deserved while expressing sadness that Sid did not live to experience the moment.
Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross was asked why Sid had not already been inducted given his resume as a multi-time world champion in both WWE and WCW and a two-time WrestleMania main eventer. Ross said the question has no satisfying answer.
“That is a question that you can ask over and over and not get a good answer,” Ross said. “Politics, part of it. Politics, I think, has a lot to do with this selection of the individuals that go into the Hall of Fame. It just came around, finding his time.”
Ross said what makes the announcement bittersweet is that Sid passed away in August 2024 before the recognition could come. “It’s a damn shame that he’s no longer with us to enjoy those moments, because he would have enjoyed it,” Ross said. “I know going to the Hall of Fame, and you know, Sid matured and grew a lot over the course of time. He certainly is a Hall of Famer. No doubt about that.”
Sid Eudy passed away from cancer at the age of 63 in August 2024. He was a two-time WWE Champion and two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and headlined WrestleMania 13 against The Undertaker and WrestleMania 8 against Hulk Hogan. His son Gunner confirmed the induction on social media and shared pride in carrying the family legacy forward.
