Jimmy “The Mouth of the South” Hart has been reunited with his most iconic accessory just in time for the holidays. The WWE Hall of Famer had the prop stolen while attending the annual WrestleCade convention in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, late last month.
The theft occurred on November 29, sparking outrage among the wrestling community and leading to a tense few days as convention organizers sought to recover the item. On Saturday, WrestleCade posted a video update featuring a relieved Hart, who confirmed that the megaphone had been successfully returned to his possession.
“Guess what? We’ve got it back! Thank you WrestleCade, thank you Tony Hunter, thank you everybody involved, this is unbelievable,” Hart said in the video. “Now I have my megaphone back, what a great Christmas present this is for me. And I want to wish everyone out there a merry, merry Christmas.”
The situation began when WrestleCade officials utilized social media to issue a stern ultimatum to the thief. Shortly after the item went missing, the convention posted a message revealing that the Benton Convention Center was equipped with high-definition security cameras. They warned that police were scheduled to review the footage if the item was not returned voluntarily.
“Someone stole Jimmy Hart’s megaphone at the convention yesterday. The venue has HD cameras and police will review the footage tomorrow,” the initial statement read. “Jimmy isn’t looking to press charges — he just wants it back. If you took it, DM us. 12/2, the police investigation moves forward.”
The megaphone has been a staple of Hart’s character for decades, used to amplify his instructions to clients like Hulk Hogan, The Hart Foundation, and The Honky Tonk Man, as well as to interfere in matches occasionally.
