Joe Hendry Explains Evolution of His Popular Theme Song & Character

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry discussed the remarkable journey of his theme song, “I Believe In Joe Hendry,” and how it finally gained widespread popularity years after its creation. Speaking on “Insight With Chris Van Vliet,” Hendry attributed its success to a shift in his character presentation and what he learned at TNA.

“Because in Ring of Honor, I had this song. The audio file is the exact same,” Hendry explained. He compared his earlier, more nuanced comedic approach to his current, more successful iteration: “It’s almost like the difference between the British Office and the American Office… wrestling is theater, and it needs to be larger than life. I was really more focused on the nuance before… Whereas with wrestling, you have to be larger than life.”

Hendry credits his development in TNA for this change. “What I learned at TNA about character development… making everything bigger and just learning who and what Joe Hendry was as a character, I allowed that to come out visually in the second entrance video that I had done,” he stated. “And I think by doing that, it just tipped it over the edge.”
