Two former WWE stars were brought in to work backstage at tonight's Friday Night SmackDown on a tryout basis.
Fightful is reporting that Joe Hennig worked backstage as a producer. Hennig is known to many fans as Curtis Axel. He is the son of "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig. The report stated that Hennig, under Tyson Kidd, helped produced the match between Sasha Banks and Liv Morgan.
Also, former WWE star Ariya Daivari, under Abyss, helped produce the match between Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn.
Hennig was released by the company in April of 2020 and has not done anything in pro wrestling since he was cut. Daivari was released in July of 2021 as part of mass budget cuts related to the pandemic. He has been very active on the independent scene and he has appeared on AEW Dark episodes and one episode of Rampage in a loss to Dante Martin.
