John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio for IC Title Made in Raw Opener
Monday Night Raw kicked off in Boston with Triple H in the ring. He started the show by stating that when he “breaks it down from every category,” he believes “the greatest of all-time is John Cena,” and then introduced Cena to his hometown crowd.
John Cena came to the ring and thanked the Boston fans. “Cena said his goal is to leave this business better than he found it.” He confirmed that the “Last Time Is Now Tournament starts tonight” and that his “last performance is December 13th at Saturday Night’s Main Event.“
As Cena was speaking, Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio interrupted him. Cena, annoyed, told Dominik, “any other night, he would give him a chance, but tonight is the wrong place, wrong time, wrong guy.” Cena added, “Out of the respect I have for your father, I’ll let you turn around and walk your ass back through that curtain.“
Dominik fired back with a bold claim: “I’m not even at my peak yet and I’m better than you in your prime.” He doubled down, saying, “at any time, any place, any era, I would have whooped your ass.“
This prompted Triple H, still in the ring, to make a decision. “Triple H said tonight is a great time for this match,” and he “ordered Dominik to defend the Intercontinental Championship against John Cena” in the main event.
