John Cena explains why he's confused by WWE fans wanting him to turn heel

John Cena

For the longest time, John Cena has remained the typical good guy character in WWE. This is much different from the foul-mouthed rapper who made his debut for the company in the early 2000s. Many WWE fans would like to see that version of John Cena return and turn heel, however, that would certainly be to the disappointment of many of Cena's young fans.

The prospect of Cena turning heel has been something professional wrestling fans have complained about towards WWE for a long time. However, it's a concept that has really confused Cena. Speaking on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers recently, Cena explained why he has always been confused by fans wanting him to turn heel:

"It's weird with me because I am supposed to be the hero, but I'm actually the heel, and everyone's just like, 'Man, why don't you just turn bad so you can be cool again!'," Cena said.

"Wait, wouldn't that make me good? I don't even know. And it's fun to like go into the WWE warpzone with those folks. They think I'm supposed to be a bad guy to be a good guy, but aren't I already being a bad guy? Just wait until the debut of The CFO."
