John Cena suffers eye injury and possible concussion

John Cena appeared to have suffered an eye injury during his match with Bray Wyatt in Madison, Wisconsin last night. The injury occured early in the match and 2 doctors came from backstage to check on him. The referee was communicating with the Bray so it was obvious to everyone that the injury was legitimate.

Cena did try to resume the match and went after Bray but he went down again and the docs checked on him again while Bray backed away. Right now it’s not clear what caused the eye injury but the belief from some fans in attendance was that it happened when Bray headbutted Cena in the corner of the ring. Cena did gut out the rest of the match with Bray getting in most of the offense and it was clear to fans there that something was “off” with Cena. After the match Cena gave a headband away to a kid and then left the ringside area quickly with his right eye shut and was in obvious extreme pain.

This is not the first time Cena has had issues with eye injuries. He was injured in February from an eye poke during a match with Randy Orton at a house show in Kansas.

UPDATE: Dave Meltzer noted that there was some concern that Cena may have suffered a concussion because he was disoriented during the match. We hope to have more news on this later tonight. If Cena did indeed suffer a concussion then that would put him out of action for a while.
