John Cena and Kevin Hart are set to team up for a new action comedy for Netflix titled “The Leading Man.” The film, which is based on a comic book series, will be produced by both Cena and Hart.
John Cena And Kevin Hart To Star In ‘The Leading Man’
According to a report from Deadline, writers Jon and Erich Hoeber have sold the pitch for the film to Netflix. The movie is based on the comic book series of the same name from Jeremy Haun and B. Clay Moore.
The logline for the film reads: “When a self-absorbed movie star (Cena) discovers that his co-star/man in the chair (Hart) is an actual agent, he’s forced to swallow his pride and accept that action stars aren’t really action heroes…while trying to save the world.”
A Packed Schedule For Both Superstars
The project is another major film for both Cena and Hart. Hart will produce under his Hartbeat company’s multi-film deal with Netflix. His previous films for the streamer include Fatherhood, Me Time, and Lift.
Cena is also an executive producer on the film. His recent action comedy for Amazon, “Heads of State,” was a massive success, becoming the fourth most-watched Amazon MGM film of all time on the platform. He is also set to star in “Coyote vs. Acme” and season two of the hit HBO Max series “Peacemaker.”
