WWE’s YouTube channel has uploaded a video of John Cena looking back at some of his most iconic matches ahead of his showdown with Solo Sikoa this Saturday at the Crown Jewel PLE. Here are the highlights:
On his Extreme Rules 2010 match with Brock Lesnar:
“Brock is one of a kind. I truly love watching him and I always tell you that I watch the people. It’s really difficult to ignore Brock. You’re in a fight for your life, but he’s also the most giving, gracious performer. Gives it all, and there’s no way for you to question his legitimacy. There’s a ringside sign that says legitimacy is returned, and that says it all when it comes to him. I love Brock as a performer. I think he’s extremely underrated. Even though he’s in that conversation of the greatest of all time. And I love him as a human being. He is wholeheartedly himself and shoots you straight, and at least you know where you stand with him at all times. And I really admire that about him. And he’s been wonderful to me over the years. Another person that we kind of matriculated together, and we both have our different paths to success, and we’re both rooting for each other constantly.”
On his Battleground 2015 match with Kevin Owens:
“So the theme of the US open challenge for me was for the performers to showcase what they could do, and I wanted to make it a little commercial for the person challenging me because if you were to answer an open challenge, that’s kind of how I got my start. So, I wanted to give the same opportunity back, and I think this was no different. Although Kevin had had great success in NXT, this was a chance for him to show what he could do as a performer and on a high-level stage. Has such a library of athletic things that he can do. He very much brought the best out of me in that respect. I thought this was a really cool moment. The audience was kind of wanting something new. The audience wanted something new and even with the United States Championship is still…..they’re, ‘Oh, they’re still investing in this guy. Will someone new knock him off?’ I think all of those things together, it was the right person to do it. The right moment in time. I just think it was a situation where Kevin, as a new performer, becomes a member of the roster and goes to the absolute limit and brings the best out of me and in tune, I kind of gave him a chance to showcase what he could do, which is a whole lot, and I thought it was a very good start to the audience getting to know KO.”
