John Cena On WWE Fan Backlash Over Vince McMahon Comments: “I’m Not Surprised”

Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena has addressed the significant fan criticism he received for stating he “still loves” former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, even in light of the serious allegations of sexual assault, abuse, and trafficking against McMahon. Cena’s original remarks were made in an interview leading up to WrestleMania 41.

Speaking recently with US Weekly, Cena commented on the public reaction to his unwavering personal feelings for McMahon. “Everybody’s entitled to their opinion,” Cena stated. “Just like I’m entitled to have an emotional connection to somebody.”

He elaborated that he doesn’t judge how others react to his stance or the situation itself. “I don’t hold anybody or how they feel or what they view as permissible or things that’ll make them angry, happy, excited, sad. That’s their right as a human being.”

Regarding the vocal online backlash his comments generated, Cena stated, “I’m not surprised about any of that.” His response indicates an acceptance of the differing viewpoints while maintaining his own personal perspective on his long-standing relationship with McMahon, under whom he became WWE’s top star for over a decade.
