WWE legend John Cena has taken to social media to shut down “speculation or rumors” that he might extend his farewell tour or go back on his decision to retire. While the date for his final match has been known for some time, Cena felt it necessary to respond to the rumors and reaffirm his commitment to the plan.
The 17-time world champion’s final match is set to take place as scheduled on December 13, 2025, at the Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.. Responding directly to the online speculation, Cena reiterated the promise he made to fans. “Despite any speculation or rumors, on July 6, 2024 I announced I would retire from WWE in ring participation,” Cena wrote. “I am far from perfect but strive to be a person whose word has value. 12/13/25 will be my final match”.
