John Cena Reveals there are Unreleased “Never Seen 17” Merchandise Designs

John Cena provided insight into the extensive logistical planning required for his 2025 farewell tour merchandise during his interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet. Cena revealed that the process began nearly 15 months before the tour started, due to the lead time required for production and intellectual property clearance.

“Give me a list of all possible cities I got out. 60 cities put on my desk merchandise uniform for everybody, because I know you got out, it takes like nine months to clear IP design to get in production. Hats and wristbands take longer than T shirts,” Cena explained.

Cena stated that by the time he announced his retirement tour in Toronto in July 2024, the team was “laser focused” on the merchandise strategy for the entire following year.

The “Never Seen 17” Concept

Because WWE’s touring schedule is subject to change, Cena approved designs for cities that he ultimately did not visit during the tour. He revealed that there are approximately 17 unused designs currently sitting in the archives.

“Cool thing about the uniforms is, like they become awesome. And because we did so many, I actually, no kidding, I did 17 extras,” Cena disclosed.

He mentioned specific markets that have unreleased gear. “Houston’s on there, Sacramento’s on there. There’s a few, there’s a few, and a few cool unis,” he said.

Potential Release

Cena expressed an interest in making these designs available to the public despite the tour dates not occurring. He is currently advocating for Fanatics, WWE’s merchandise partner, to release the collection under a specific branding.

“I’m trying to get fanatics to release the never seen 17,” Cena stated.
