John Cena is arguably WWE’s biggest star of all time. “The Leader Of The Cenation” has become quite the celebrity outside of the professional wrestling world, starring in movies, appearing on shows, and even picking up some high-profile hosting gigs. Inside the ring, Cena is one of the top merchandise sellers of all time, a huge fan-favorite with children, and is a 16-time World Champion (tied with Ric Flair for most all-time).
However, in recent years, Cena’s WWE workload has decreased dramatically. Long gone are the days where Cena is on WWE TV week after week, and he’s making all the house show loops along with the other talents. Now, Cena is beginning to wind down in his professional wrestling career, and is focusing more on his acting profession.
Cena is no longer the top dog in WWE, and he’s fully aware of that. As he recently said in an interview with Sports Illustrated, playing off his WWE theme, his time is up, and it’s somebody else’s time now:
“It’s a giant relay race, and I’m in the phase where I’m handing the stick off. My time is up,” Cena said. “Someone else’s time is now.”
