John Cena: ‘You Can’t Write Me a Check to Bring Me Back. In December, I Am Done’

During an appearance on today’s Pat McAfee show, John Cena doubled down on his recent controversial statements about ruining wrestling.

When questioned about his “ruin wrestling agenda,” Cena said, “I’m just gonna shut it down. Ruining wrestling…everyone is replaceable, there’s always gonna be another show. I’m going to make wrestling start over. I’m taking the last piece of tradition in the business home, and you guys can figure out how to settle the dust when I’m gone. Period.”

Adding further weight to his impending departure, Cena stated that a return to the ring after December 2025, when his retirement tour wraps up, is impossible.

“The business has been good to me — I never once take that shit for granted,” Cena stated. “There’s no amount of money, and there’s not a check, and this is just a shot across to any casino owner, any territory owner, to any promotion, you can’t write me a check to bring me back. In December, I am done because of the promise I made to them, whether I like them or I don’t, at least I go out keeping my word.”
