John Cena’s WWE Elimination Chamber Plans Have Been In The Works For Months

Although John Cena fell short by one spot in winning this year’s WWE Royal Rumble match as Jey Uso eliminated him, he will have another shot to headline WWE WrestleMania 41.

While speaking at the WWE Royal Rumble Post-Show, Cena sent a message to the fans and the rest of the roster. He said that he would go to the Elimination Chamber and win the bout to get a chance to break the World Title record that he is currently tied with Ric Flair for.

Although not confirmed, it is believed that Uso will challenge World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER for the World Title at Mania. That would leave only Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to go after Cena.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “Rhodes vs. John Cena, with Cena winning in the Elimination Chamber, was the plan since probably October or November for one of the main events with the story of Cena going for the record 17th world title.”

Only CM Punk has qualified for the Elimination Chamber match. Rey Mysterio vs. Logan Paul in a qualifying match will take place on Monday’s Raw.
