John Laurinaitis’ Attorney Reacts To Janel Grant’s Court Filing: ‘Anyone Can Make Allegations. Whether They Can Withstand Cross-Examination Is Another Matter’

The attorney representing John Laurinaitis has responded to the latest court filings in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against WWE and Vince McMahon, pushing back against the allegations contained in Grant’s April 1 declaration and pointing to his client’s dismissal from the case as evidence that speaks for itself.

Laurinaitis was originally named as a co-defendant in the lawsuit filed by Grant in January 2024 but was voluntarily dismissed from the case in May 2025 after agreeing to cooperate and provide evidence for Grant’s legal team.

Grant’s April 1 filing, a memorandum opposing WWE and McMahon’s motions to move the case to private arbitration, referenced several incidents during her time at WWE in which she alleges she was forced into sexual situations involving Laurinaitis.

Attorney Edward M. Brennan provided a statement to Post Wrestling on behalf of his client responding to the affidavit. “My client has no need to comment on this salacious affidavit,” Brennan said. “Anyone can make allegations. Whether those allegations can withstand the harsh sunlight of cross-examination is another matter entirely.”

Brennan also pointed to what he described as the defining facts of Laurinaitis’ position relative to the ongoing litigation.

“I note that after two-plus years of litigation, Mr. Laurinaitis remains the only party exonerated by an independent investigation commissioned by the WWE Board of Directors to review these matters and the only person dismissed, with prejudice, from this lawsuit,” Brennan said. “Those facts speak louder than any allegations made to buttress a suspect claim.”

The lawsuit remains active with Grant’s legal team fighting to keep the case in public court rather than allowing WWE and McMahon to move it to private arbitration. Grant’s attorneys argue that the NDA she signed is unenforceable and should not bar her from pursuing her claims in the public court system.
