John Morrison files for new trademark outside of WWE

John Morrison has decided to apply to get the trademark rights to the term “SlamTown.”

Morrison, real name John Hennigan, filed for the trademark on November 23rd with The United States Patent and Trademark Office. It’s listed under entertainment services for use in wrestling.

What’s interesting is the filing was made outside of WWE as it’s directly between Hennigan’s attorney and the USPTO. Morrison has used the trademark dating back to January 2015.  Here is the description:

International Class 041: Providing sports information in the field of wrestling; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of organizing social entertainment events, Entertainment services in the nature of a wrestling club; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network

Since making his return to WWE, the company has used him in a comedy role and paired him with The Miz, who currently holds the Money in the Bank briefcase.

Miz and Morrison were sent from SmackDown to Raw during this year’s Draft.
