Once Renee Young announced on social media on Wednesday night that she had tested positive for COVID-19, there were questions regarding the status of her husband, Jon Moxley.
Dave Meltzer provided an update on the situation during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. Young was symptomatic and feeling sick with the virus, but the good news is that she’s doing a lot better now. He was told that the belief is the worst of the virus is over for Young.
It all started when she lost the sense of taste and was later bed-ridden. While WWE did test everyone who worked TV tapings last Tuesday, Young’s positive test was not administered by WWE.
Instead, she had the test done in Las Vegas on Monday after feeling sick and got the results back late Tuesday night. Moxley has been tested but came back negative. It should be noted that just because he tested negative now doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have the virus due to the delay in showing symptoms and testing positive for it.
Although Moxley isn’t feeling sick, he is staying at the same home as Young, but they are keeping a distance from each other. The reason for staying home is due to him not wanting to go to a hotel in fear of spreading the virus to other people and not wanting to leave his wife.
As a result of this decision, there’s still a chance that he may have it but hasn’t tested positive for it yet. AEW officials will have to wait it out to see if tests positive for the virus and whether changes will have to be made to the AEW Fyter Fest Night 2 show as he is slated to defend the AEW World Heavyweight Title against Brian Cage.
AEW will tape the shows next Wednesday and Thursday. Night 2 airs on July 8th.
