JTG on how he found out Shad Gaspard was missing, who he thinks is behind big money donation

Former WWE star JTG, who was the tag team partner and close friend with Shad Gaspard, made an appearance on Lillian Garcia’s podcast, Chasing Glory.

Gaspard passed away at just 39-years-old after a tragic incident at Venice Beach while with his son. As noted, the former WWE star was taken away by a riptide at the beach after Gaspard, his son, and a group of swimmers found themselves in deep water to the point where lifeguards had to rescue them. Gaspard was last seen after he told rescuers to save his son.

At the very beginning of the podcast, JTG shared how he found out that Gaspard was missing. Gaspard’s wife called him on Gaspard’s phone on Sunday night right before he was about to go to bed. That’s when he was told that Gaspard was missing.

JTG originally thought that Gaspard was pranking him, which they did to each other quite often. However, there was something wrong in the tone in the voice of Gaspard’s wife.

“I’m like yeah, this is real. She’s a good actress but I said I’m gonna go along with it. I jumped in the shower, brushed my teeth and I rushed over there. Then we were on the beach with flashlights looking for Shad. We were there for a few hours. I was there until a little past midnight. I think that day I accepted it. I had to accept it, yeah I didn’t. I was waiting for a big bear hug from behind but a part of me is still waiting for that big bear hug from behind.”

A  $40,000 donation from “CTC RIP” was made to a GoFundMe campaign with a $100,000 goal to help out Gaspard’s family. This has caused some fans to speculate that the donation came from John Cena due to the brief faction that was created in 2008 with Cena and Cryme Tyme.

During this time, WWE did an angle where the three stars vandalized JBL’s limo with Cena writing “CTC” or “Cryme Tyme Cenation” on the vehicle.

Around the 109:40 mark, JTG talked briefly about the donation and whether he thinks Cena was behind it.

“I don’t know, I’m not a hundred percent confirm but I’m 99.9% sure you know there was a donation for $40,000 and it was, they said that the person donated the money was CTC RIP and CTC was a faction between Cryme Tyme and John Cena and it was 2008. It was one also one of the most fun I’ve ever had at the WWE was teaming with Cena.”
