There has been a significant development in the ongoing legal battles connected to Janel Grant’s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE. In a ruling announced on Monday, July 7, Connecticut Superior Court judge Colleen Zingaro ruled in favor of Grant’s bill of discovery against Dr. Carlon Colker and Peak Wellness.
Discovery To Move Forward
The ruling orders both the plaintiff and defendants to submit scheduling order proposals, allowing Grant’s legal team to move forward in seeking medical records related to her treatment at Colker’s clinic. This comes after Grant’s attorneys filed a pre-action discovery petition last year.
In her lawsuit, Grant accused the defendants of facilitating her abuse by administering unapproved treatments and substances, which she alleges enabled Vince McMahon’s control over her. Her legal team has claimed that Peak Wellness has failed to provide complete documentation regarding her treatment. Last month, Grant’s team also requested a wide range of documents from McMahon and WWE, including communications between Colker and McMahon.
This latest ruling is a key step for Grant’s team, though it is separate from the larger federal lawsuit against McMahon and WWE. In that case, both McMahon and WWE filed an appeal last week to prevent discovery, arguing that Grant’s requests were an “improper fishing expedition.” A federal judge has yet to rule on that motion.
