Katana Chance (Kacy Catanzaro) On WWE Release: “Surprised,” But Always Felt “A Little Bit Out Of Place”

Former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kacy Catanzaro, known as Katana Chance, recently opened up about her May 2025 WWE release, admitting that while it was a shock, she often struggled with feeling like she truly belonged during her nearly eight-year tenure.

Speaking on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Catanzaro discussed her initial reaction to the release: “I actually was very surprised. It wasn’t on my radar.” However, she also reflected on a persistent feeling throughout her WWE journey: “No matter how long I was in wrestling, I always felt like no matter what, I was the newer person there… I always felt like wherever I was I’m still the newer person here, even though it had been almost a decade that I worked there… I just always felt a little bit out of place, I guess.” She clarified this wasn’t about difficulty picking things up, but rather “trouble feeling like I belonged there, I think… I never fully felt like, okay, I belong here right now.”

Despite these feelings, Catanzaro shared her gratitude: “Yes, I wish I had done more… but I was with WWE for eight years, that is the dream. That is a huge accomplishment… I try to lean more towards I am just so grateful I was there and I did that.”

She also revealed signs of the release possibly coming, like being moved from Raw to SmackDown and a charity event booking change, but initially dismissed them.
