Wade Keller provided more details on Keith Lee’s WWE release during a PWTorch VIP audio show.
Keller said that he heard from people that Lee was frustrated and there were attitude issues and this was said by people who were rooting for him.
Keller said, “Keith Lee, who I have chronicled for months and months and months and months and months, was somebody that even people that were rooting for him behind the scenes, became frustrated with him.
He just had, in general, attitude issues or, as one wrestler told me tonight, perceived attitude issues. Hedging a little bit, others have said outright attitude problems and he just was frustrated. I’ve heard different things about him in terms of his mood being altered way more than it should in the modern era about being asked to do a job.”
Lee dealt with health issues this year that kept him off TV and then he was given the “Bearcat” gimmick when he returned to TV a few weeks ago. It’s not clear what caused the frustrations behind the scenes but Lee has said on social media that the “Bearcat” gimmick was not his idea so perhaps, that was one of the reasons why he was perceived as being difficult backstage.
