In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, I had the opportunity to interview former WWE Divas Champion Barbie Blank, known to WWE fans as Kelly Kelly. We discussed her life as a wife and mother to twins. We also discussed current WWE, Paul Heyman, Triple H, Liv Morgan’s heel run, and a possible return to the company. The full interview can be seen below.
Barbie Blank on her marriage to Joe Coba and becoming a mom:
“Everything’s amazing. The twins are almost one year, which is, I can’t even believe it. We’re almost done planning their one year birthday. Just time flies. I feel like it was just last year, two years ago, we were, like, trying to have a family, and now, you know, the twins are a year. It’s been an amazing journey. And, you know, married life, I feel like is just stronger than ever. Kids really, I feel like could make or break you. So either you get stronger, you know, Lordy, but we’ve just been able to, like, really figure this whole thing out and, like, the parenting thing, and we just, you know, it’s amazing.”
Blank set the record straight on what her husband does for a living (He is not a bodybuilder):
“Everybody thinks that. But no, he’s an engineer. He just got his master’s degree at USC and business like he is a go getter man. When people call him a bodybuilder, he’s like, No, I got my sh*t together.”
Blank on Liv Morgan’s heel run:
“I feel like it’s cool what they’re doing with Liv [Morgan] right now. She was such a big babyface, and they turned her heel and decided to kind of see how that goes for her.”
On if she watched SummerSlam:
“I did. I watched the girls match, both of them. I didn’t see the end, but, yeah, I mean, I love what they’re doing. I’m excited for the product and watching what the girls are doing. I like keeping up with the women, you know.”
Blank on the Triple H era and the positive atmosphere backstage at WWE:
“I didn’t really work under Triple H when I was there. Vince was still there…I worked with Hunter when Hunter came back and was like, wrestling. I’ve been back for the Rumbles and stuff now that Hunters — and it’s cool to, see him just kind of take over and, you know, it’s been cool.”
On WWE Raw moving to Netflix in January:
“I think it’s huge. I’m excited because I feel like you’re gonna get back to, like, the PG 13 era, too. They’re gonna be able to do a lot more with that. I just think that the Netflix and the Hulu’s are like the new way of the future. So I think it’s so smart of them to do and hopefully, they do add more shows like different things. I think it’d be really cool to see what they’re gonna do with it.”
Blank on if she sees herself doing movies and TV shows:
“Yeah. I mean, I love filming and stuff…like showing my personal life, like, you know, stuff like that is really fun. I have a lot of fun with it. I feel like it’d be really cool to, like, do something with like the twins, my husband. I think that’d be really fun to do. We’ve actually had, like, a few, networks kind of reach out and, pitch a few things, but, you know, I don’t know. My husband’s like, I don’t know, babe.”
Blank continued, “I love, like, an ensemble cast, like, I’d love to do something with like, other women, you know, like WAGS, because that was fun when you get a group of women, because it’s not like, solely based on you. Because that’s why I think when it gets like, you know, like, a lot of pressure, a lot of stress. So that’s why I loved the WAGs show, because there was all the girls, and we all, like, we had fun with it.”
During the interview, I asked Blank her thoughts on working alongside names like Eve Torres, Alicia Fox, Paul Heyman, and others. On Triple H she said the following:
“I love Triple H. We worked together. He was great to work with. I mean, I would love to come back and work for him. He’s awesome.”
Blank on if she would want to return part-time or full-time to WWE:
“I definitely don’t think I could do full-time, especially with the twins. And then I talk about wanting one more baby, so I don’t know, but I would definitely come back part-time. My dream is for my twins to watch me in the ring one day. It was cool, like, I was sitting here, we were watching SummerSlam, and the twins were watching it. Like they were like…eyes locked in watching. And I was like, Oh my God, wait till they’re old enough to see their mom…doing that and watching their mom. I’m just so excited for them to, like, get old enough to where they’ll, like, really get it, you know, but seeing them, how they how excited they were watching it, I was like, Oh my gosh, this is is cool.”
