Kenny Omega will be out of action for several months due to injuries that will need to be surgically repaired.
Dave Meltzer noted at the beginning of today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that Omega is expected to get multiple surgeries done and there is not a clear timeframe just yet for his return although the top AEW star is hoping to be back in February 2022. In addition to a shoulder injury, he’s been dealing with various injuries including his knee and an abdominal hernia.
“Yeah, more than that actually [the shoulder]. He has a lot of different issues, knee, shoulder, abdominal hernia that he’s been working through. There are others too. He’ll be getting multiple surgeries, most likely. Everything is kind of to be determined. I guess the idea is to try to get as many of these things taken care of at the same time but that’s a lot of body parts to rehab at the same time.”
Meltzer added, “he’s done with AEW most likely for a while until everything heals up. There’s no target date. I think he’s hoping February maybe but I think that’s premature because they haven’t done the surgeries yet. He had a lot of issues that he was working through.”
On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Omega said that he’s going to take some time to fix some issues and wants The Young Bucks to hold down the fort for The Super Elite. Omega just lost the World Title to Adam Page at last Saturday’s Full Gear PPV.
