KENTA explains his decision to sign with NJPW after WWE departure

Former WWE star KENTA aka Hideo Itami is in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and has opened up on his decision to sign with NJPW after WWE departure.

He made his promotional debut at the NJPW Dominion event in Osaka, Japan. This comes after it was reported that Itami asked and received his WWE release in February.

At the time of his departure, it was believed that Itami was looking to return home to Japan and potentially back to Pro Wrestling Noah where he previously worked.

KENTA spoke with NJPW commentator Chris Charlton about why he signed with NJPW. This is where he noted that he wanted to show his work to the world as KENTA and praised NJPW for expanding into new markets.

“Now New Japan goes worldwide,” KENTA said. “I want to show my wrestling to the world as KENTA, not Hideo Itami. I want to show my wrestling to the world and New Japan goes worldwide, US, UK, everybody knows New Japan. So, I decided New Japan.”
