KENTA aka Hideo Itami joined New Japan Pro Wrestling last year after departing from WWE.
He made his promotional debut at the NJPW Dominion event in Osaka, Japan. This came after it was reported that Itami asked and received his WWE release in February.
At the time, it was believed that Itami was looking to return home to Japan and potentially go back to Pro Wrestling Noah where he previously worked. However, that wasn’t the case.
KENTA did an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated where he talked about a wide range of topics. During the interview, he was asked about his time in WWE.
“I’ve felt in my heart that the five years I spent in WWE were the most frustrating days of my life. I’ve talked about this, but I’ll always remember the humiliation in America. Being here reminds me of that regret. And when you’re not good, you tell yourself that. That is what inspires me.”
KENTA also talked about why NJPW is a better fit for him than NXT, his goals in the promotion, and more. You can check out the full interview here.
